As well as an exercise of UI design and app building, this project challenged us to provide a solution to the companion project, the non-profit guide, through interactivity. Meals on Wheels is a non-profit that delivers meals daily to seniors, as well as providing wellness checks. Features like local news about the company, food order management, and a delivery/pick up interface provide a solution in incorporating the logistics of the company's services. The target audience being a primary caregiver and their loved one.
This project asked students to find and research local non-profit(s) in order to create a printed guide that introduces the business, shows nearby locations through a map, and highlights 3 of those locations. For my chosen non-profit, I went with Meals on Wheels, a company that helps provide daily meals to seniors through volunteering deliverers. Seniors who live alone are often threatened with moving to assisted living due to the inaccessibility of daily meals. As well as daily wellness checks, Meals on Wheels aims to give independence back to seniors. My booklet/guide is aimed towards caregivers who live in San Diego seeking options for their loved ones.
